One of rare form of cancer which aggressive and malignant is Mesothelioma which develops in the protective lining areas of internal organs of body called Mesothelium cells. This type of cancer affects the lungs and abdomen area but mostly the lungs lining is attacked and it can cause the malignant pleural mesothelioma. As the result of asbestos exposure in which the asbestos fiber is inhaled or swallowed easily by considering their microscopic sized, the piling up of fiber which can’t be destroyed by the body cause inflammation and damage the lining cells. This disease is mostly taken from people who work on potencial areas where the asbestos fiber widely spread.
Types of Mesothelioma
There are three types of mesothelioma, they are: pleural mesothelioma, peritoneal mesothelioma and pericardial mesothelioma. The malignant pleural mesothelioma is a type of cancer develops in the lungs and it is the most common mesothelomia cases happened since the asbestos fibers can be inhaled easily. The peritoneal mesothelioma attacks the abdominal area and it can be rarer case than the pleural type found in mesothelomia disease. The rarest case of mesothelomia is pericardial type in which it develops surrounding the heart and occurs related to pleural. Each type of this disease shows different symptoms and they also need different treatment.
Mesothelioma is a disease which is the treatment cannot cure totally and actually it cannot be cured. The amount of cases, nowadays, is stable since the disease can show the obvious signs after 20 years up to 50 years after continuously exposed by asbestos whereas the usage of asbestos today have been decreased. The most common cases occurred to people at work and this is regarded as the primary cause whereas indirect exposure because of washing clothes or has interaction with those who work in asbestos areas is the secondary cause and it sometimes happens in women and children.
